The aim is to explore all avenues to realise the vision of documenting the legacy of SACC. Many attempts were made in the past to write the history of the SACC, however, they did not manage to produce a true account; thus did not give justice to our existence. Therefore, it is incumbent upon this effort to narrate the facts, that has been experienced, the sweet and sour, hence the book should reflect what were endured.
This endeavour, to document the history, should be a joint effort and we as former SACC members will narrate our own history. The book should have distinct demarcations and be written in sections/timelines of ten years, starting with the inception (1963) of SACC until disbandment during 1994. We owe the book to the new generation.
The book should also have a perspective of what the families have endured in the absence of their husbands/fathers (border duty or courses).
Some of the proceeds of the book should go towards the SACC veterans and for this purpose a trust fund should be established.
The book is not about SACC Maintenance Unit; however, about SACC in general including all the other SACC Units that were established during our tenure. Some intellectuals will also be involved to assist us with our objectives.
